Temples

After the zoo, we drove to the Buddha temple and Bell temple. The Buddha temple was filled with people praying and lighting incense to carry those prayers up to Buddha. Each temple contained three enormous statues of Buddha, beautifully decorated. The last temple contained a single enormous statue carved from a single piece of wood.

The Bell Temple was even more interesting. We saw bells of all shapes and types engraved with intricate characters and dragons. Some of these bells were over 500 years old, yet we were encouraged to touch them and ring them.

At the end of the tour, we saw an enormous bell with hundreds of characters on it. It was said that if you could toss a coin into the top of this bell (harder than it sounds since the bell is easily 2 stories high) you would have good luck while in China. Luckily, I made it!
