Exploring Beijing, China
Welcome to
Beijing China!4 days, 5 nights in a city vastly different than anything I have ever experienced. A terrific experience on many levels, and a lot different than the type of vacation I've favored lately - this particular one had organized tours and lots of city time. And just in case any one was wondering, Chinese food in China tastes almost EXACTLY like Chinese food in the US. Honest!
Sometimes I felt as if I had stepped back in time. All around you are pavilions, bells, statues, and such that are well over 500 years old. Right next to someone trying to sell you pirated CD ROM software. Farmers, with blackened coal stoves they brought to town on their bicycles, roasting sweet potatoes on the street corner under a sign for Baskin Robbins ice cream. A study in contrasts.
Join me on a tour of this great city and it's surrounding sights!
The Forbidden City
The Summer Palace
The Chinese Opera
The Ming Tombs
Everybody Loves Pandas
The Temples
The Hutong Tour
The City
The Tiennamen Square and Beihai Park
I took this trip because of a terrific deal put out by 11th Hour Vacations. My tour group (pictured below) made for some really great times - travelling with a tour group lets you get someone else's perspective what you are seeing. I'm certain that part of the reason I had such a great time is because I got to travel with such a great group.
